We were delighted to see many of you at our 5th International Symposium on APS Type 1. Our symposium brought together APS Type 1 families and medical experts from around the globe. Patients, families, caregivers, researchers, and clinicians had a chance to meet and get to know each other. We are particularly grateful to the doctors and clinicians who joined us from around the world! Please stay tuned for the video recordings and PPT slides.

Day 1

The first day of the symposium was dedicated to presentations from some of the globally recognized medical experts working on APS Type 1.  Key presentations summarized and highlighted advances in fundamental and clinical research as well as treatment considerations from medical and quality-of-life perspectives.

Day 2

The second day of the symposium was more informal and focused on smaller group discussions of important topics. The day was divided into two concurrent tracks.  The patient/family track included discussions about succeeding in school, identifying disability supports and strategies for dealing with insurance, and transitioning from pediatric to adult care.  We also had an interactive session about feeling and looking great with a demonstration from a special make-up artist from Own Your Wonder and products and instructions from Look Good Feel Better. While patients and families interacted together, physicians and scientists engaged in a roundtable discussion of current scientific research and challenges around APS Type 1.

We will start planning for our 2025 Symposium soon. If you have thoughts or ideas, we’d love to hear from you!
