NORD and 18 other patient organizations representing millions of people with pre-existing conditions issued a statement on June 30 in support of specific patient protections and affordability provisions included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act, which passed in the House of Representatives on June 29. This legislation would provide essential supports to the millions who face economic uncertainty by ensuring middle-class individuals and families have improved access to affordable health insurance by expanding eligibility for tax credits. It also provides increased federal funding to expand Medicaid so the program can continue to serve the needs of people, including those living with pre-existing conditions. The bill now awaits consideration in the Senate.
