We are deeply grateful for the incredible generosity shown this Giving Tuesday, with over 60 individuals coming together to make a meaningful impact through their contributions.

Giving Tuesday may have passed, but there’s still time to participate in the giving season. You might be thinking, “I have no idea what to do.” Don’t worry—you’re in the right place.

Gaby Talarico is sharing a few simple ways you can spread the word and help raise funds for the APS community:

We know how much time people spend on their phones these days, and many have become pros at making videos. As a young ambassador, I see firsthand how my peers are creating content daily on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Whether you’re a young adult or know someone younger, we all have the ability to make a short video to help raise awareness for APS Type 1. It doesn’t have to be long—short, sweet, and to the point is perfect since shorter videos tend to perform better on social media. If you click this link, you can check out a video I created to spread awareness and encourage donations to our organization.

If videos aren’t your thing, there are other ways to make a difference this season. Take advantage of all the gatherings happening this month—whether it’s Friendsgiving, holiday parties, or family get-togethers. These events are a great opportunity to host a “Serving Awareness” fundraiser. The concept is simple: invite people over, cook a meal, and ask them to donate what they would have spent dining out. We’ve made it easy by providing all the tools you need to host this type of event—just click this link. It’s a fun way to raise money while enjoying time with loved ones.

Another idea is to go old school with a bake sale at your school or workplace. The holiday season is the perfect time for this, as many people are already baking cookies and other treats in December. Spend a fun day baking with your kids or friends, create delicious treats, and sell them to raise funds for the APS Type 1 community. People are in a giving mood this time of year, and they’ll be even more inclined to contribute when they know the proceeds are supporting a cure for APS Type 1.

These are just a few ways you can continue giving after Giving Tuesday, simply by incorporating fundraising into the activities you’re already doing. Whether it’s creating content, hosting an event, or baking for a good cause, every effort counts – I believe in everyone’s making a difference. Together, with the help of our patients, families, and friends, we will find a cure for APS Type 1.

Sincerely,
Gaby Talarico
