After a one year hiatus, our online “race” is back! The goal of this event is to raise awareness and fundraise for APS Type 1 research and education in association with Rare Disease Day. The Olympics-themed trek starts on Sunday, February 21st. We invite anyone and everyone to run, walk, bike, swim, snowboard, lift weights, dance, or try the luge if you are really feeling that Olympic spirit! Any activity can be logged and will be converted into virtual miles. There is no limit to the number of people that can share in the fun, so recruit some friends to join too! You can participate from anywhere since it is virtual. The trek will begin in Olympia, Greece and end in Milan, Italy on Rare Disease Day (Feb 28). Please click here to register or here to learn more. We are grateful for your support and participation in building our community.
“Closing Ceremonies” for our event correspond with Rare Disease Day 2026, February 28, 2026.
APS Type 1 merch (better than a gold medal!) will be awarded to the top fundraiser and to the person who logs the most miles.
The entry fee is $25. Additional fundraising is welcome and encouraged. After signing up, you will be given a personalized fundraising link to share with family and friends. Our virtual team has no size limit, so recruit others to join you in this adventure and spark some friendly competition.
The leaderboard is the place to be!
Our 1,000 mile course begins in Olympia, Greece, and ends in Milan, Italy – the site of the 2026 Winter Olympics. You will have access to Google street views along the race course.
See you on the trail and thank you for your support.
