Recap of the 2013 Driving For A Cure Fundraiser
his year we had a lot going against us…
- With Gaby at the NIH and other work/life challenges we started planning this year’s tournament later than usual.
- We hit an all time high of $32,000 last year…how could we possibly do any better.
- Attendance at this year’s event was coming in lower than previous years with a lot of life challenges with kid sports, proms, and graduations.
However, this past Friday, May 17th, the weather at the Berkleigh was our best ever, the golfers came ready to play, and the financial support from our corporate sponsors, friends and family exceeded our expectations. It’s amazing what people will do, the outpouring of support, and the love and generosity of those that care about what we are trying to accomplish. We humbly thank you all for your support.
So…how’d we do? After the final checks were counted and all the money was totaled we AGAIN hit a new high…$36,096! We’re not sure how we did it but we are shocked to have exceeded 2012 by $4000 with less golfers!
Special thanks to all our supports who are listed on the attached closing letter. Please support all those that support us! Thanks to the Berkleigh GC and Adrienne Hogan for having the course in such great shape. We especially thank all our corporate sponsors and continue to ask that you consider your employer for corporate sponsorship in 2014, the corporate sponsorship is what continues to drive us to new heights. Thanks to all our golfers who made this day so special, and finally to all the Tackett’s and Talarico’s who worked so hard to ensure our success.
What to look forward to…mark your calendar now for May 16, 2014 for the 8th Annual Event. As well, we are building off our success by having our first Texas Hold’em Tournament on June 14th. The proceeds from the “All in for a Cure” Poker Tournament will go directly to APS Type 1 research through NORD. Print a copy and tell your friends! This is a great way to continue our fundraising efforts and have a fun…some nice opportunities to win big!
